Pink October 2009 - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

“Women in Pink and Men in Black”

That was the theme of the night and first time ever I had an invitation for this charity gala dinner.

Pink October is an annual health campaign organized by major charities organization every October each year to increase awareness and to raise funds for research, prevention and cure for the breast cancer.

It was held at One World Hotel Petaling Jaya and I love the decoration of the main stage and the hall itself. They even had a big dance floor in the middle of the hall surrounded by guest table, so that we can see clearly the performance of the night.

The cancer patients also were there and they had put on a very nice dress to sell. Quite expensive, but yet this is just for charity event. I heard they manage to sell most of the dresses that night. May God bless to all the shoppers.

Say Pink, wear Pink, think breast cancer!

Note: my photo maybe offended to some people, but this was taken before event starts.

Heroes & Villains Annual Dinner & Dance

If you still remember the post on my ex-company annual dinner which i won the bess dress competition? i won again this time with price worth of RM150. Okey la than nothing!

It was Hereos & Villain theme on the night and i was plays the character of Quella de Vil from 101 Dalmations movie.

My girlfriend called and said "you again?..." instead to congrats me!

So mean!

Aidilfitri 2009

Throughout the Ramadan, I was really happy to at least spending my time to remember God. Even it wasn’t perfect compared to other people; I’m hoping that God will see the sincerity in it. Yet, I’m pretty sure that I had not been able to get the Lailatul Qadar night. There were too many activities to attend to and made myself so tiring on the last 10 days of the Ramadan. I know, I know, it was only an excuse, but hopefully God will give me another chance to have it one day.

This Ramadan too, there was a day that I’ll remember in my life. The day when my parents spent their time to break fasting with us in KL (not a something new actually), the day when on the first time I had told my parents about my boyfriend and the day when my dad so annoyed and asked me to call it off.

I wasn’t sure how he reacts but really certain on what was the reason behind it. For your information, my dad is actually religious man. Having a Chinese boyfriend wasn’t a good idea, unless you have a very sporting daddy. Starting that day, he called me almost every day just to ensure our relationship is ends. A bit annoyed, even he used to call me, but not every day like this.

I’m not a daughter that always give headache to my parents (I mean big big headache hehehe), but this time I don’t know why I was so hard and stubborn on my decision. Maybe because all this time, I just being a good follower in the family.

I had waited for so long to have a boyfriend, not that I don’t have any before, but to have someone that completes me as a women is not easy. Since I finished my secondary school (I think during my University time), I didn’t really into Malay man (sorry guys, no offend okay). Let me keep to myself the reason of me not to choose them but I can share one of the reasons here.

I’m not really fair type of skin, my color more to the original Malay girl, tan color to be exact. So if I married to Chinese guy, the percentage for me to have the baby with fair complexion is higher. Simple reason but concrete! Hehehe.

Okey, back to the story. I tried my best to convince my dad even I knew it was really hard to do it. So I make an effort to use the other way round and brought my bf to meet the rest of my family first. If they like him, my job will be much easier. So thank God, they like him especially my elders sister. Normally my parents will listen and approve whatever my sister said. To deal with her is much more trouble-free than my parents. In this kind of situation, to make used all the available resources is essential.

Thus I brought him back to kampong during Hari Raya even I knew that my dad will kill me instead. Once in the while to gamble and take a step that you will regret for the rest of your life, could give you a different perspective. At least I was trying than doing nothing. My bf also plays an important role as an actor in this conflict drama even you can see his face turn white in front of my dad. If we had a trophy for the best actor of the year, he will definitely win it.

At first, when my parents saw him, they didn’t say anything except just give ‘who-the-hell-he-think-he-is’ smile and went straight to the room. I was nervous and I lose count to my heart beat already. If the doctor was around, he must be surprise to see my BP goes up and I fainted with the blue face. Touch wood!

But the miracle happened during the dinner, my dad started to have a conversation with my bf. From the food introduction to the current issues, all made my nerves even stress. I think, my dad just trying his best to respect the guest during Hari Raya.

From the moment, my parents slowly like him and he really made my day. Thank God to accept my prayer throughout the Ramadan. I had never missed to pray that God will open my parents’ eyes to see the truth about our love. We are no longer young, we can’t wait any longer to build a family and live happily ever after. We just need the blessing from the elders and let us drive our life to where and how it will turn to be.

I’ll never forget this Ramadan and Aidilfitri as the beginning of my life. Mom & Dad, I’ll make you proud to my choice and this is the first and the last, I’m hoping.

Don't ask me why this picture turn that way.

Natrah Theater

I’m not a big fan of theater and as far as I can remember, the first and last (so far) theater that I watched was a Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical years ago (before I started this blog too).

It wasn’t in my planned to watch Natrah Theater at the first place, but my girlfriend asked me to company her since other friends had to cancel last minutes. I know how this story begins and ends, so I’m not really interested to watch, but I was so kesian to see her face thus I company her till to the end.

My girlfriend really can even watch all the theater performed in Istana Budaya every month. She is really theater devotee!!

Momo - Theater Devotee

This theater I will rate as ‘okey’ only. Not outstanding like how Puteri Gunung Ledang was, there were too many scene that I did not get it well especially when Sofia Jane (Natrah-old) monolog to herself and God about her life. 40 minutes wasted just to watch this scene and I can’t even understand what she meant!

The actor and actress were superb! I give 2 thumbs up for them.

Birthday in Gold Coast

Thanks to Air Asia for flying across the Indian Ocean to Australia and been in Gold Coast on 1 May – 7 May 2009 was a wonderful travel experience for me, sister and girlfriend. We had purchased the ticket 1 year before the departure and first time in my travel diary that I had a very proper plan for my trip. So far, 2 months lead time is more than enough for me to fly with complete itinerary, visa, travel gear, places to visit, etc. Being physically in Gold Coast for my pre birthday celebration certainly was a best moment ever.

Overnight flight to Gold Coast with Air Asia wasn’t a best idea; our body not even has a chance to rest during 8 hours journey to Gold Coast on the stiff and straight seat conditions. But, we realize that we can’t expect much as it equal to a cheap flight ticket that we paid.

We reached Collonggatta International Airport at 5.20am (Australia is one 2hrs ahead us). The word ‘International’ attached to this airport not comparable to its conditions itself. I would rather prefer LCCT compared to this. The immigration procedures also seems normal for the first time traveler to Australia, nothing weird as I expected. The bus system in Gold Coast should be rated as A++ and I can see a very less private car on the road and pretty much leads to the smooth running of the transportation system in Gold Coast.

We had decided to visit Brisbane before Gold Coast and it took about 4 hours journey by train. A lot of facilities can be expected here but if you want something so called ‘tourist attractive places’ then this is not a place to go. I would say that Brisbane can be described as a big city which you can easily find 5-stars hotels, supermarket, branded shop, designer shop, clubs, etc. We reached Brisbane around 9.30am and this time in Malaysia, during weekend or PH, I definitely still on the bed. As I said, nothing else we can explored here except for 2 historical bridges which quite well known in Brisbane. We spent almost 2hours there to take pictures and breathtaking activity and waiting patiently before check-in time at 12noon.

We rented out 1 backpacker hotel room with 6 bed attached and when we entered the room, there were 2 girls in the room for almost a week. They were here under Holiday Maker Visa to Australia, meaning they can work, stay and visit Australia for up to 2 years. What a nice choices for two of them as I was planning to enter UK last year by using the same Visa… but I can’t remember what the reason was until it has been cancel off. We were talking about each others for quite a while until we finally decided to take a bath and went out for something to eat.

It wasn’t easy way to find HALAL food but we were still happy to have a delicious and fresh Mc Donald Fish Fillet in almost every day in Australia. At night in Brisbane is totally dead. All shops, supermarket and even restaurant closes up to 5pm. May be Autumn & Winter are not a favorite seasons to go to Australia as night time in Australia is longer than a day time. Imagine we can even finish our tour in about 3hours and started to sleep at 7pm… Gosh. What a waste time in Brisbane.

After reaching Gold Coast by early morning train, we took up a shuttle bus to Surfers Paradise. As given name, the attraction in this place is of course for surfing activity. The beautiful beach with big waves seems to welcoming us here. We also took up a backpacker hotel here and not only due to the $$$ but also the strategic location of the hotel. If in others country, the backpacker hotel normally will be located quite far from the centre of attraction. This is very good approach of Australia government, at least it will help to attract more tourists to Australia, I guess.

We didn’t pay much activity on the beach except for the photo session, in that temperature? Oh no… But the beach was damn nice, you can see so many people were enjoying on the surfing board and the children were so happy playing at beach side. For us, who come from the country with the natural gift e.g. beach, we don’t feel really excited on the beach, except to enjoy the scenic and the weather. On the first day in Gold Coast, we had a chance to visit a Q-Deck, the place that you can see the Gold Coast view from the bird’s eye and much more same function to the KL Tower in Malaysia. The view was tremendous beautiful with background of the blue beach and the big waves. But, the view for sure comes with the pricey package, just be ready to pay for it.

The Wax Museum in Gold Coast not as big and interesting as we thought, it just some sort of normal museum with weird human in wax and not many admired faces that familiar to us. On the first day, we spent more on site seeing to the park, beach side, the building, University and the bridge. But for the 2nd day, we manage to explore the Wildlife Currumbin Sanctuary. The big zoo which we can find many strange animals and they were very neat and healthy. Finally, we manage to hold and take a photo with the signature animal in Australia; Koala Bear and Kangaroo.

3rd day was an interesting day for us as we had so much fun at the Movie World, the world's greatest theme park inspired by blockbuster Hollywood Movies. We had the ‘wonder’ and excitement of imaginary storytelling at its best. Too bad as we didn’t have a brave to take a ride all the roller coaster and games, we heard that it’s scary and tough. But we had so much in taking photo especially with the movie characters.

We had 2 days left for shopping and it was like a heaven to shop at their Factory Outlets. I spent almost all my money to buy the branded clothes, jacket, sport shoes, heels, handbags and sun glasses. It was damn cheap and I got my Nike shoe just only for RM135 (current price in Malaysia is RM280). The balance of my money, I had spent it in the Surfer Paradise too, there are a lot of store that you can shop. From the clothes to souvenirs and all comes in reasonable price. For sure, shopping in Australia is make me realized that I had finished more than RM3, 000 just for being a chronic shopaholic.

Don’t worry about Halal food in Gold Coast as just a few blocks away from our hotel, there are 2 -3 Muslim shop and one of them is from Malaysia. But, food in Gold Coast is pretty expensive compared to its portion. If you can have a Mc Donald Fish Fillet, that will be a good choice too.

If I have chance to migrate, I will definitely chose Gold Coast. I love the way how the Government takes charge to bring the nation state being the first-class country. The transportation systems, the people, the food, the weather and the scenic makes you wonder on how nice to be there for good.

I’m sure you will certainly love Gold Coast for holiday’s destination. Believe me, its worth than you thought.

First ever to Bangkok Thailand

While surfing Air Asia website, I was almost falling chair to see their 1,000,000 free seats promo again this year. I had booked the ticket to Gold Coast last year through this promo too, so I’d not try to miss it this time.

I don’t know on why I visited the web at the first place, but still who would not excited to see the cheap ticket fare offered by them; even we need to purchase it at least 6 – 12 months ahead, but for me, I’s still worth to buy. If by happened, we need to cancel our trip or something has to stop us for going, at least we don't really regret. It's better if you can have something good than to risk losing it by the time you want it so badly. A bird in hand is worth two in a bush.

I closed my eyes and open it very wide this time, took a deep breath, called my sister, called my friends, called my sister again, hang the phone… put it back (I can’t find correct button to press), called my sister again, my sister called me... refresh the website and oh no! no! no!... most of the cheap fare has gone. Other people already purchase it. Why they were so fast? Or was I too slow?

I want to go all the places; I still have a time to save my money for the trip in one year. If I save RM500 a month, then I should have RM6,000 in total. But where I can go in RM6,000? Indonesia? Thailand? Australia? Vietnam? Malaysia? If I can save my meal & shopping budget, I think I can save even more. –__-

Suddenly my sister called up “do you still remember that we will be going to Gold Coast in May?”

Duhh… I need more money for this trip too. A.lot.of.money.for.shopping.at.factory.outlet. Get it wrong this time. Wrong timing and wrong investment plan.

So end up we were headed to Bangkok Thailand with RM250 return fare inclusive of luggage & insurance coverage. Ouww. Not too bad for the first time traveler to Bangkok, even more with the long list of nicest & cheap hotel to stay, the best SPA in town to pamper myself, the shopping outlets and the cheap shop to get AAA replica branded & designer handbag (I got Marc Jacob handbag for RM150 -__-).

Blur but i love this photo

I had myself a few garments as I didn’t bring anything to wear except the outfits that I was wearing from KL to Bangkok, but still I don’t really into it so much. Why? Because I can get it all in KL. I don’t mind to buy them if the quality of the material and the needlework is equivalent to the price that I paid, but they were NOT at all. So, thank God too for the other attractions in Bangkok.

Before I go, my friends kept advising me to watch the Thai Girl show in Bangkok. They guaranteed me the best show in town. Swear to God, I don’t really know how it’s look alike. In my mind, this should be some traditional show to promote Thailand tourism. The place must go like a Japan & Korea forcing all the tourists to visit their herb shops.

I went. I watched. I surprised.

Those who are living in cave like me (because my friend claimed that I am living in cave to not knowing how Thai Girl show in Thailand is look alike), Thai Show is a naked shows done by a group of Thai girls and they even had sex on the stage! But one thing that I was surprise and speechless to see when the girls use their own *&#$@ to open a bottle cover, to blow the balloon, to drink (by straw) and they even can put blade and something sharp inside it. Errr…didn’t they hurt?

I manage to stay for the show about 5 minutes only before I wanted to vomit. But still a lot of people keep watching it till to the end. For sure, I’m not going to this again in future. Sorry girls, you had lost one fan, not because you are not attractive enough, but what you were doing is sucksssss.

For women out there, please, everything personal tries to keep it to you & husband only and I reminded myself also now.

We were supposed to go to Floating Market, but we had cancelled it since the journey will take about 2 hours from Bangkok. End up; we just spending time in Bangkok town itself. Taking photos, massages, manicure & pedicure and shopping.

I’m not really like Bangkok, but the tom yam sup makes me wonder so much. If I have a chance to visit Bangkok again, I am pretty sure it’s because of the tom yam which I adore it like no others. -___-

Shanghai Showdown Night Dinner & Dance

This was taken during my ex-company Annual Dinner and Dance 2009.

Presented you the Prom Queen of the Shanghai Showdown Night dinner theme!
